A Beautiful Equestrian Wedding in Prince Edward Island

There’s something magical about a road trip to Prince Edward Island — especially when it’s for a wedding.

When Maddie and Justin first reached out to me about photographing their equestrian wedding on the Island, I couldn’t believe my luck. Not only are horse-inspired weddings one of my favorite things to photograph, but this one was set on a beautiful private property surrounded by fields, horses, and close friends.

Their wedding day felt incredibly personal from beginning to end, and every detail reflected who they are as a couple.

A Unique Farm Wedding Venue

Instead of hosting their wedding at a traditional venue, Maddie and Justin chose a place that was already meaningful to them — the property of their friend Kerry, where their beloved horse Chevy is boarded.

The indoor riding arena was transformed into a charming rustic reception space. Wall-to-wall flooring was laid down across the arena, and soft twinkling lights were suspended overhead, turning the space into a warm and inviting celebration venue.

The transformation was nothing short of magical — proof that sometimes the most memorable wedding venues are the ones created with a little imagination.

A Meaningful Outdoor Ceremony

Their ceremony took place outside in an open field surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Prince Edward Island.

One of the most special details? Justin built the ceremony benches himself. The handcrafted seating created a simple but elegant setting for their guests and added a deeply personal touch to the ceremony space.

The overcast skies that day turned out to be a gift for photography. The soft, diffused light created the most beautiful atmosphere for their portraits and helped capture every moment in a timeless way.

A Quiet First Look

One of Maddie and Justin’s favorite memories from their wedding day was their First Look.

“We truly appreciated our First Look! It was a lovely private moment shared between us before the wedding celebrations began.”

Having that quiet time together before the ceremony allowed them to slow down, connect, and take in the day before the excitement of the celebration began.

A Ceremony Filled With Love (and Animals)

The ceremony itself was incredibly meaningful and personal to the couple.

“Definitely our ceremony! Having our beloved animals included made it feel even more special to us.”

Including their horses made the ceremony feel authentic to who they are and their life together — something that made this wedding especially memorable.

Marriage Advice From the Couple

When asked what advice they would give to couples planning their own weddings, Maddie and Justin shared something I absolutely loved:

“We strongly encourage you to personalize your special day to truly reflect your identity as a couple! No idea is too crazy! If you want your horse at the ceremony — go for it!”

Their wedding was a perfect example of that philosophy. Every detail reflected their story, their passions, and the life they share.

And perhaps their sweetest everyday tradition?

“We always make sure the other isn’t hungry! We truly have unconditional love for one another and always show up for each other in the good and the bad.”
