Erin and Morocco

Gray horse jumping 3' children's hunter at the Coveside Classic horseshow in Chester, Nova Scotia.

We are kicking off blogging season 2025 with the sweetest duo: Erin Barrington and Morocco!

Every spring, I like to showcase our photography from the past season as we prepare to unveil our new photography packages for the upcoming season. Erin had a fabulous season with Morocco. She thoughtfully invested in photography packages for the entire season, allowing us the creative freedom to explore a variety of styles and themes for each show.

It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with her throughout the summer, capturing the essence of those beautiful moments. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with her throughout the summer and I can't wait to see what these two will be up to now.

Q: Erin, how do you typically prepare for an upcoming season?

A: Around April, I switch to show gear with Moe, easing into more lessons and focusing on transitions and pace. During winter, I go easy on Moe, a senior horse, avoiding regular jumping. Moe is slow and lazy, so it took time to find the right pace for show striding. I'm grateful to have a horse that doesn't need constant training, allowing me to work on myself and enjoy the winter.

Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you faced during last year's show season?

A: Last year, I struggled with confidence due to high expectations from others based on my horse's experience and our past successes. I felt pressured to achieve top placings to satisfy supporters. After winning the 2'6 stake at the first show (our all time favorite class), I realized I needed to ease up on myself and stop worrying about others' opinions. Moe is 22, and I never know what show might be our last. So last year was hard on my mind.

Q: Who do you rely on for encouragement and support during the show season?

A: I have incredible support during the season from my cheerleaders, best friends, and especially my coach Jeff McKenna, who is not only an amazing coach but also fills in as a groom and keeps me calm before shows. I’m thankful for his help, especially when I'm anxious. My mother and friends also provide tremendous support, cheering me on next to the ring.

Q: What specific goals do you have for this year's show season?

A: This year, my goal is to focus on Mods and remove training day classes, allowing Moe an extra day to trailer in before showing in modified hunters and my stake class. We're also joining the adult equitation division and have been working on transitions this winter, especially for the technical flat phase. I’m excited to see what they bring to the table for me and Moe!
