There's something special about photographing a pair who clearly bring out the best in each other.
Teaghan and Quicksilver — Django to those who know him best — were the recipients of a giveaway nomination from their peers, and it's easy to see why. Teaghan was recognized for being an outstanding horsewoman, for always putting her horse first, and for being a genuinely valued member of her equestrian community.
These images were captured during her final year as a junior rider, competing in Children's and Performance Hunters at Coveside Stables — a season that marked the closing of one chapter and the quiet beginning of another.

On the season ahead
This year brings a significant transition for Teaghan — stepping into the adult amateur division for the first time. Her goals reflect both ambition and the kind of grounded perspective that comes from years of putting the horse first.
"One of my main goals is to build confidence in the derby ring and develop a stronger, consistent performance over more challenging courses," she shares.
"I'm also looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone by competing out of province for the first time this summer. Throughout the season, I want to focus on having fun with my horse and enjoying the ride."
On the people who shaped her
When asked about her biggest equestrian influence, Teaghan's answer is immediate.
Her mom.
"She shared her love of horses with me from a very early age and has been my biggest supporter ever since. She's always encouraged me to try new things and never give up, no matter the challenge. My mom is the hardest worker I know, constantly going above and beyond to make sure I never miss out on opportunities or chances to learn. She has shown me what true dedication looks like, and I look up to her in all aspects of life."
On the quiet moments
Away from the ring, Teaghan's favourite place is still the barn.
"I love spending time doing chores and caring for Django," she says. "I also really enjoy hacking through the trails — it's a chance for both of us to relax and take everything in."
It's a reminder that for riders like Teaghan, the love of horses has never really been about the ribbons. It lives in the everyday moments, the quiet rides, and the partnership built one day at a time.
