Some of the most meaningful moments to document are the ones that feel quiet at the time — the early chapters, before everything unfolds.
This spring sessions with the Brennan family was one of those.
Photographed in 2022, it brought together three very different horses, each at a completely different stage — and looking back now, it feels even more meaningful than it did then.

A Season of Different Chapters
Emma's mare, Coco Chanel, was photographed in a series of black background portraits — a study in presence, detail, and quiet elegance.
Abby's mare, Whyala, was captured both in black background and outdoors, blending the two different styles to reflect her personality and presence.
And then there was Billy.
The Beginning of Something
At the time, Billy was just a foal — small, curious, and completely unaware of what was ahead. He brought a different kind of energy to the session. Light, playful, and impossible not to notice.
Looking back know, knowing he's beginning his introduction to the show ring, these images feel like the very start of something much bigger.
Why These Photos Matter
Sessions like this are a reminder that not every important moment happens in the ring.
Some of them happen long before — in the early days, the quiet seasons, the beginnings you don't fully understand until later.
And that's often what makes them work holding onto.
